Right! this blog has to be about a connection between American rapper Kanye West and German philosopher Frederick Nietzsche! To be honest i know more about Kanye West than Nietzsche however have done a little research into him. Ermm so Kanye West has three rap albums, “The College Dropout”, “Late Registration”and the most recent one “Graduation”. He’s a very popular rapper and has his own record label producing many artists himself. Nietzsche was a 19th century German philosopher who wrote critiques of religion, morality, contemporary culture, philosophy and science. I think one connection between the two is religion….in many of his songs Kanye West mentions God and religion, whereas a very famous quote from Nietzsche is “God is Dead”. Although the views on religion obviously conflict, they both connect through religion nonetheless! The work of both men seemed to produce quite a stir,in a good and bad way for each.
Another way they are connected is by the phrase “what doesn’t kill me can only make me stronger” this line features in kanye wests hit song “stronger” and was also a phrase used by Nietzsche! This along with religion connects the two.
